My son is 3’9” and about 45 libs. We ordered the smaller version of the classic red. No matter what length we use on the straps, the clasp in the front always sat at his throat. Not only was it uncomfortable, but any amount of weight in the backpack made it unsafe to use with the clasp in front. We did not get to return it because we had used it for a week. I wanted this backpack to work but in the end, we had to get a different one. I did love all the various pockets and zipper, though!

Great look, great size, and free of harmful chemicals
My 5yo needed a bigger bag for camp this year, so we moved from a small Bixbee flyer backpack to a large "signature". The red was perfect, as that's his favorite color, and made it easier to let go of the fun flyer model. The large is definitely large. As the site suggests, it's really too big for him, but with all the stuff he's required to bring to day camp, a medium just wouldn't have worked. Fortunately the straps have a good range for adjustment and he can wear it without them falling down. I'd give the bag five stars, but we've only had it for a week, and so I can't speak yet to the durability. Everything looks good and has worked well so far, but we'll have to see what it looks like going into the school year.
